Maureen Smyth, BSN, RN

Maureen Smyth, BSN, RN, and founder of Smyth Med is a cannabis educator. She teaches people how cannabis works in the body. It turns out that there is way more science to the cannabis molecules than reefer madness would have us believe.

Currently, in her role as cannabis educator, Maureen teaches the basics of the endocannabinoid system, cannabinoid receptors, cannabinoids, cannabis pharmacology, and the research associated with the medical use of cannabis. She is certified by the Medical Cannabis Institute Global, in the Medical Cannabis Curriculum for Nurses and the Core Knowledge of the Endocannabinoid System.

Additionally, Ms. Smyth is Healer Certified as a Cannabis Advisor and a member of the American Cannabis Nurses Association (ACNA), as well as an ACNA Advocacy and Diversity committee member. 

Maureen teaches dispensary education and speaks at workshops all over the country. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Simmons College, Boston MA and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Russian Studies: Language, Literature and Culture from UMASS Boston.

In Maureen’s 15-year nursing career, she has been a staff nurse at a VA hospital, Boston, MA, on the spinal cord injury floor. She has worked on several different Medical-Surgical and Telemetry floors. Her nursing career included Step Down and PACU nursing. She has also been ICU and Emergency Float RN. Additionally, as a travel nurse, Maureen has taken several unique assignments throughout the US, including stints at an inner-city Level 1 Trauma Center, several rural critical access hospitals and even a world-renowned Liver and Kidney Transplant hospital in San Francisco, California.
